Finding Clothes That Fit & Flatter {Part 2}

Finding Clothes That Fit & Flatter {Part 2}

If you really want to find clothes that fit and flatter, you’re going to need to come to grips with your body shape.  I’m not saying you should spend time staring at yourself in the mirror and obsessing over the fact that you may not be as thin as other women or that you may not be as tall as you’d like to be.  You need to spend some time looking at yourself in the mirror and evaluating the shape of your body.

Believe me, I understand that looking at yourself in the mirror may be the last thing you want to do, but if you want to find clothes that are going to be flattering, you need to suck it up (not suck it in) and take a good look in the mirror.

Every woman, no matter what her size or shape, has a body part that they like.  Whether it’s thin ankles, a graceful neckline, long legs, shapely calves, nice shoulders, a defined waistline or something else, you need to figure out which part of your body you want to highlight.  Then you’ll create a focal point around that area.

I highly recommend spending some time looking in the mirror before you head to the store.  There’s nothing worse than cramped dressing rooms with unflattering lighting when you’re trying to focus on your best features!

Once you’ve determined what your shape is and what body part your want to accentuate, you’ll be able to more easily figure out what is flattering to you.

Do you know what your best feature is?

I have great calves and ankles, so whenever possible, I try to show them off make them the focal point of my outfits.  I look for dresses and skirts that camouflage my trouble spots (tummy and hips) and accentuate my calves and ankles! See what I mean?

What’s your favorite body feature? If you’re not sure, go take a look in the mirror and then come back and leave me a comment…

Finding Clothes That Fit and Flatter {Part 1}

Finding Clothes That Fit and Flatter {Part 1}

Regardless of your shape or size, it can be difficult to find clothing that fits and flatters.  When you move into the plus-size category, it can be even trickier.

The truth is that many women secretly wish they could revamp their wardrobe and find clothes that are flattering to their body, but they simply don’t know how. More to the point, they might not have the confidence to run out to the store and buy a bunch of clothes that are going to look good on them.  Part of the problem is that women have bought into the lie that unless they wear a certain size or are in an ideal weight range, they won’t look good in their clothes.

In reality, women of any size and shape can look stunning and women of any size and shape can look frumpy.  I know plenty of women who have amazing figures who are in desperate need of a makeover.  I also know quite a few plus-size women who always look like they’ve just stepped off the pages of a fashion magazine!

Before you can find clothes that fit and flatter, you need to overcome the idea that your weight gets in the way of looking amazing.  It’s simply not true!  Over the next few weeks, I will be sharing tips and tricks to help you find clothes that fit and flatter regardless of your shape.
