What Is Color Street?

August 2, 2018 By Lisa 11 Comments

What Is Color Street?

If you follow me on social media, are in one of my Facebook groups, or know me in real life, you’ve probably heard me mention Color Street, but after having multiple people ask “What is Color Street?” I figured I should tell you  more.

From Skeptic to Stylist

I remember when my sister first told me about Color Street, I literally thought “That sounds like the dumbest thing ever.” Don’t worry, I didn’t say that. I’m a good sister…at least some of the time. 😉  Anyway, my nails have always been a point of contention with me.  I have short ugly nails.  While I don’t mind paying money to have acrylics, I HATE the time it takes to have them put on.  Plus, they damage my nails so horribly.  I also have 0 talent when it comes to painting my own nails.  The last time I painted my nails myself, a well-meaning friend asked me if my then 7 year old daughter had painted them.  Yep….that’s my life.  So when my sister started talking about this whole Color Street thing, I thought it would be one more stupid nail thing that didn’t work for me. But I was soooo wrong!

While I admit I was totally skeptical about Color Street when I heard about it, as soon as I tried them, I was hooked. I’ve literally had pretty nails for a year now…and I’ve done them myself! No more naked nails!

So back to the question…

What Is Color Street?

Color Street is real nail polish strips that go on like stickers.  They don’t require heat, they don’t require any special tools, and there’s no dry time.  Each strip contains a base coat, color coat and top coat…all in one!  You literally peel off the backing and stick them on your fingers.  They’re 100% nail polish, but they’re completely dry-to-the-touch when you put them on.

Color Street has lots of colors and styles to choose from.  You like glitter? Color Street has glitter.  You like nail designs? Color Street has some really fun nail designs.  Are you more of a French Tip gal? Color Street has you covered with french tips in a variety of colors and they even have some glitter tips!

How Long Do Color Street Nail Strips Last?

Color Street nail strips keep their good looks for up to 14 days!  I’ve had these nails on for 16 days and while they obviously don’t look as good as they did on day 1, I’m still getting compliments.

I typically do my nails every other Sunday on the way to church. Yep, they’re easy enough to use that I can put them on in the car. I typically put them on while my husband drives and then let my daughter Shayna use the other half of the pack for her nails.

How Many Manicures Can I Get From One Pack of Color Street?

While Color Street is a single-use product, each pack comes with 16 double-sided nail strips. I have short nails and typically split a pack with my 13-year-old so we both get a full manicure out of 1 pack…and we typically have some leftovers too.

How Do I Apply Color Street?

As you can see, Color Street is easy to apply. Like I said earlier, I do my nails in the car on the way to church.

Where Can I Buy Color Street?

You can only buy Color Street through Independent Color Street Stylists, but good news, I’m one of them. You can visit my Color Street website to purchase online or if you’re local to me or want something that is out of stock or discontinued, you can reach out to me directly to see if I have it in my inventory. I’m always happy to send out nail strips.

How Do I Try Color Street?

So you’re intrigued by what I’m saying, but you’re not ready to pull the trigger and buy some Color Street. That’s OK…I totally get it. I would never have bought Color Street Nail Strips or started my Color Street business if I hadn’t tried them first. You can request a sample here.

What Is Noonday Collection?

June 13, 2018 By Lisa Leave a Comment

What Is Noonday Collection?

I’ve always liked fun and unusual jewelry and accessories, so when my sister became a Noonday Ambassador I was quite excited for her. I was also excited that Noonday was created as a way to support adoptive families (and since we’ve adopted 5 kids, that was huge for me)…and that they still support adoptive families through fundraisers. Even better, they help create jobs for impoverished families who may have otherwise not been able to raise their children. And while I love adoption, I love families staying together even more…but I digress, you’re probably still wondering exactly “What is Noonday?”.

About Noonday

Noonday Collection designs and sells an inspired collection of jewelry and accessories made by artisans across the globe. And the jewelry and accessories are out-of-this-world cool. The artisans that make these incredible pieces are able to support their families with the wages they make from their businesses. I love that Noonday is a member of the Fair Trade Federation and that they provide dignified wages and jobs for these amazing artisans.

What is Noonday Collection Jewelry Made Of?

Noonday artisans use indigenous materials and traditional skills to create modern, fashionable designs. You’ll find hand beaded jewelry made in Guatemala. You’ll find hand-crafted, paper-beaded jewelry made in Uganda. You’ll find leather jewelry and handbags from India and Haiti. And ethically harvested water buffalo horn jewelry from Vietnam.

Where can you purchase Noonday?

Noonday Collection Jewelry is sold through Independent Noonday Ambassadors…like me! You can try on and purchase Noonday jewelry and accessories through trunk shows. When you host a trunk show, you also get hostess benefits which included free and discounted Noonday! You can also purchase online through each Noonday ambassador’s individual website.

How Can I Make A Difference?

You can make a difference by shopping, hosting a trunk show, or becoming a Noonday Ambassador! If you’re interested in any of the above, feel free to shoot me an email!

My Latest Stitch Fix Plus Size Clothing Box

May 15, 2018 By Lisa Leave a Comment

My Latest Stitch Fix Plus Size Clothing Box

While I know most people complain about trying on bathing suits, one of the hardest things for me to find is a good pair of jeans.  That’s one of the reasons that Stitch Fix has been so awesome for me.  I’ve gotten a new pair of jeans in each of my “Fixes” and I’ve loved each one of them.  I’ve been working hard at losing weight, so it’s worked out well that by the time my next “fix” comes around, I’m ready for a smaller size of jeans.  Here’s what arrived in my latest Stitch Fix Plus Size Clothing Box.  I’d love your feedback on what I should keep and what I should send back.

Stitch Fix Plus Size Clothing Box Review

Stitch Fix Black Maxi

Here are my thoughts on this box…stylistically, I like everything that came in the box.  I was thrilled to get another pair of jeans in my box.  While they’re not as distressed as the jeans I usually go for, they fit well and I like them.  I think I’m going to keep them.  Next up is the navy floral tank.  I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this tank.  It fit well and I liked the style.  I’m on the fence about keeping this.  I tried the hot pink layered tank next.  I feel like it’s too big (and yes, my bra choice with this isn’t a good one, but I didn’t feel like changing) and not the most flattering.  Next up is the denim jacket. My old jean jacket is now too big so I asked my stylist to send me a denim jacket.  I like the one she sent, but it’s too big as well.  I also think that a cropped style jacket is more flattering for my figure.  I’m not going to keep the jacket. Last but not least is the black maxi dress.  I like maxi dresses as they’re easy to throw on and make you look like you’re put together even on days when you’re not.  They also hide a multitude of sins (like unshaven legs).  I definitely like this dress, but I’m not sure about the length.  I feel like it may be a little short.

So…that’s my latest Stitch Fix Plus Size Clothing Box!  What should I keep and what should I send back?  Leave me a comment and let me know!

If you’ve never tried Stitch Fix, here’s how it works.  You sign up and then fill out a questionnaire about your sizes, your style preferences and more.  They even ask you how much you like to spend on various pieces of clothing so they can send you a box that fits your budget. Then you choose how frequently you want to receive your style fixes.  Once you’ve done all that, schedule the date you want your fix to arrive and sit back and wait.  Your personal stylist will take into account your likes and dislikes and will get your box ready to go.  Then once your box arrives, you’ll have 3 days to decide what you want to keep and what you want to send back.  There is a $20 styling fee, but when you decide to keep an item in your box, your $20 styling fee is applied to that purchase.  If you decide to keep everything in your box, they offer you 25% off your entire purchase.  If there are items in your box that you want to send back, simply use the prepaid envelope to ship them back.  It’s easy peasy!

10 Ways to Look Younger

August 1, 2017 By Lisa Leave a Comment

10 Ways to Look Younger

Two weeks ago, I turned another year older.  And while aging is inevitable, looking old is not!  To help keep you looking your best, I’ve researched these 10 Ways to Look Younger! Don’t worry…no surgery or injections are required!

10 ways to look younger

10 Ways to Look Younger

1. Use a primer on your hair

Dull hair can make you appear older than you actually are.  As people age, a natural loss of fatty acids and keratin proteins makes hair duller and more vulnerable to damage, so things you’ve always done such as color your hair, use heat products, can damage your hairs inner cortex and can also rough up the surface!  You can use a multitasking primer on your hair (my fave is this one) to make your hair shinier and more manageable.

2. Protect your lips

As you age your body produces less collagen which can make your lips appear thinner.  The ultraviolet rays of the sun can also break down collagen in your lips!  Choose a lipstick like LipSense that will protect your lips.   LipSense provides a natural shield from the sun. The proprietary formulations and color pigments in LipSense help create a mechanical covering for the lips. LipSense will keep your lips looking and feeling great!

3. Exfoliate your skin

Just like your hair can look duller as you age, your skin also loses its youthful glow! You need to exfoliate your face and your body. I love this skin polishing facial brightener and this body polish is amazing!

4. Moisturize your skin

Now that you’ve gotten rid of all the dead skin, you need to moisturize. When your skin is hydrated, your skin plumps up, making wrinkles less noticeable {and we want them to be less noticeable}!  While moisturizing your face is important, don’t forget your  neck, your decolletage, and your hands.  All of these areas are places where your age will show if you’re not moisturizing regularly.

5.  Frame your eyes

Just like your hair gets duller and sparser as you age, so do your eyelashes.  You have a few options for making your eyes pop.  You can get extensions (this is my personal fave) and although it’s a little pricy, for me, it’s some of the best money I spend each month.  If you don’t want to spend the money on extensions or your not thrilled with the idea of monthly maintenance, consider a lash boosting product.  My sister swears by this one.

6. Frame your eyes (part 2)

Lashes are super important in framing your eyes, but so are eyebrows!  Eyebrows grow thinner as we age (and if you have thyroid issues, that can make them even more sparse).  Use a neutral color eyeshadow or brow balm to fill in your eye brows. I like this brow balm or the eye shadows in this palette.  If you want to go for no maintenance eyebrows, try microblading.  {I’m totally considering this. I’ll let you know if I decide to go through with it.

7. Whiten your teeth

Our teeth tend to get dingy with age…especially if you regularly drink coffee, tea, soda or wine.  Use a whitening toothpaste to remove stains from the surface of your teeth.  AP-24 is my favorite whitening toothpaste and gets results quickly! It doesn’t contain peroxide and is safe to use on sensitive teeth!

8. Update your accessories

If you tend to wear traditional and timeless styles, it’s easy to get stuck in a rut.  While you may not want to buy a new wardrobe, new accessories are inexpensive and can be purchased in trendy styles that will make you appear younger and more fashionable!  These drop earrings are fabulous and fun!

9. Get a tan

Excessive sun exposure can lead to more wrinkles and skin that looks even older, but you can get that sun kissed look without ever stepping outside or going to a tanning bed.  If you’re looking for a natural tanning solution that’s easy to apply, consider these tanning towlettes.  If you’re willing to spend some money, consider getting an airbrushed tan.  During an airbrushed tan, a skilled technician will spray you tan.  It’s quite fabulous!

10.  Stand up straight

Remember when your mom would chide you to stand up straight or sit up straight? Well…that’s what I’m doing now.  As you age, your posture often worsens causing you to look older than you are.  Stand up straight (or sit up straight), pull your shoulders back, put your chin up and walk confidently!  Now that you’re using these 10 ways to look younger, you can strut your stuff confidently knowing that you look like a million bucks!
