Weight Loss Wednesday:  January 31, 2018

I had a fabulous week in Florida. It was really fun to spend time with my dad and I got to do some shopping while I was there.  I got some nice long walks in while I was in Florida, I took the stairs instead of the elevator as often as I could and I managed to hike when I got home (and I made it to the top in under 65 minutes…it was 64 minutes and some odd seconds, but it was still faster than last time). And the scale liked me this week!!!

 

Last Week’s Weight: 256.8
Today’s Weight: 253.3
Weight Lost This Week:  3.5 pounds
Total Weight Loss: 14.4 pounds

As you can see I had a big loss this week.  I lost 3.5 pounds (which would have been less if I hadn’t gained last week), but I owned the gain last week, so I’ll take the loss this week.  My eating has been good since I’ve been home, but it wasn’t as clean as I would have liked while I was in Florida.  It just goes to show that when 90% of your eating is clean and you exercise regularly, it can make a difference!

So I’m thrilled with my January results. I can’t believe I’m down almost 15 pounds!

I also got my first Stitch Fix Box and it was so fun to have so many things that looked cute on!  I’m seriously stoked about having a new pair of jeans!  I feel like I’ve turned a corner in the way that clothes fit.  I’ve always loved shopping, but more often than not I have to try on multiple things to find something that fits well.  Everything in my Stitch Fix box fit well…and it was an awesome feeling!

Also, I’m loving my unicorn hair (although my cousin told me I looked like My Little Pony).  I’m going to pretend he meant it as a compliment. 🙂  I’m thinking this is going to be a great year.  I’m happy with my hair and I’m losing weight!

Weight Loss Wednesday: January 24, 2018

So I’m typing this week’s Weight Loss Wednesday post from warm sunny Florida. The weather is crazy in Phoenix, so I’m really glad I’m here.  The other day it was 38 degrees in Phoenix, AZ,  48 degrees in Fort Wayne, IN and 68 degrees here in Florida.  Isn’t that crazy!  So this week’s weigh in was a little disappointing.  I’m hoping it’s because I’m using a different scale, but I have eaten quite a few things I wouldn’t normally eat since I’m out of town for work.

 

Last Week’s Weight: 256.4
Today’s Weight: 256.8
Weight Lost This Week: I gained .4 
Total Weight Loss:  10.9

So my weight this week is kind of a bummer, but I have an NSV (non-scale victory) that I’m so excited to tell you about!!!  I made it to the top of the trail over the weekend.  I can’t even begin to tell you how happy that made me.  It took forever.  Ok…it actually took 65 minutes to make it to the top.  I’m not even exaggerating when I tell you that I got passed by no fewer than 10 senior citizens.  One guy passed me on the way up, passed me on his way back down, and then went back up again and passed me again.  There are some seriously fit people who hike here regularly.  It gives me hope that if I keep it up, that will someday be me.  For now, I’m just going to revel in the fact that I made it all the way up to the top. My family was with me today so that made it even more fun.  When we got near the top, I was literally stopping every minute to catch my breath.  I told them to go on to the top without me…and I’d meet them up there. They hung in there with me though and were there cheering me on as I made my way to the top.

So…all that to say, even though the number on the scale went up, I’m still thrilled with the progress I’m making!

Weight Loss Wednesday: January 17, 2018

I can’t believe we’re already on the third week of January! This year is flying by!!! I’m discovering that my commitment to post weekly in this group is a good inspiration to keep me honest…and to keep me from eating things I shouldn’t. There were a few times this week that I thought about going through the drive-through for junk, but then I thought about the progress I’ve made and I thought about posting my weight here and I decided to pass the drive-through and opt for something a little healthier.

Apparently, passing up the drive-through paid off.  I had another good loss this week.   And I’m down more than 10 pounds so far!!! That’s huge!

Last Week’s Weight:  260.2
Today’s Weight: 256.4
Weight Lost This Week: 3.8
Total Weight Loss: 11.3

I hiked a few more times this week.  While I still haven’t made it to the top, I’m getting a whole lot closer.  I hiked with my 11 year old daughter one day and she was so encouraging.  I literally had to stop every 5 minutes because I was so out of breath, but she kept telling me that I was doing great and to keep it up.  She literally could have made it to the top, back down to the bottom, and back up to the top before I made it halfway up the mountain, but she didn’t.  She stuck with me and encouraged me like crazy.  I want her to grow up to be strong and healthy and I feel like this will help me set a good example.  I want her to see me eating well and exercising regularly (even though it’s a struggle).  Hopefully, she will never struggle with her weight, but if she does, I want her to know that she can do something about it.

I’m excited about what this year will hold and about finally reaching my weight loss goals!

Weight Loss Wednesday: January 10, 2018

It was another good week in the weight loss department. I ate well, I hiked some more and I’m thrilled to report that the scale went down again!

This week was a huge loss!!!  I can’t believe I lost this much in one week!

Last Week’s Weight: 264.2
Today’s Weight: 260.2
Weight Lost This Week: 4.0
Total Weight Loss: 7.5

I’m really working hard to replace the processed food I eat with more nutritious foods.  I’ve been making myself a smoothie for breakfast each morning.  I use spinach, an orange, frozen strawberries, frozen pineapple and protein powder.  While my smoothie isn’t low calorie, I feel like it’s really nutrient dense and I’m working hard on eating better not just eating less.

It’s fun seeing the scale move, but it’s even more fun that my clothes are starting to fit differently.  I’m thrilled with this picture from earlier this week.

Weight Loss Journey 1:8:2018

I’m not sure why, but when I get disciplined about eating and exercising, I put more effort into what I’m wearing and how I look.  Isn’t this outfit the cutest? My husband bought me these Tory Burch boots for Christmas and I think they add so much to any outfit!  The jeans are Old Navy Rockstar Jeggings and I’m loving this Bell Sleeve Top!  I also got my hair done this week.  I went to someone new and I absolutely her!  My hair was looking kinda crazy and I’m thrilled with the color now. That may also contribute to my desire to look put together!

Anyway, I feel like I’m already seeing a difference in the way I look, but that could just be my mind playing tricks on me.  Whatever it is, I’ll take it!

Weight Loss Wednesday: January 3, 2018

Happy New Year! I hope your year is off to a great start! I’m thrilled to tell you that my first weight loss post of the year is a good one.

Last Weeks Weight:  267.7
This Week’s Weight: 264.2
This Week’s Weight Loss: 3.5
Total Weight Lost: 3.5

I’m thrilled to report that my weight this morning was 264.2 which means I lost 3.5 pounds!!!  That’s a step in the right direction for sure.  I’ve been really watching my portion sizes.  I’ve also started exercising.  I love to hike and have decided that rather than trying exercise programs that I don’t like and I’m not good at, I’ll try to hike regularly.

My first hike was embarrassing.  I didn’t make it all the way to the top of a trail that my friends classified as easy.  One friend told me she makes it up and back in under an hour.  I hiked for over an hour and didn’t make it anywhere close to the top. I also got passed by multiple old people, but I didn’t give up, so there’s that.  My goal is to hike it again this weekend and make it further than I did last week.  Eventually I’ll make it to the top…or at least I hope I’ll eventually make it to the top! 🙂  I’m guessing that as I lose weight and get in better shape, it will get easier for me.
